Hydration & perfusion (PCV/TS, lactate); electrolytes (KβΊ, NaβΊ, Clβ», MgΒ²βΊ) q4β8h; renal values; urine output (goal β₯1β2 mL/kg/hr); blood pressure; respiratory rate/effort. Risk of hypokalemia, hypochloremia, metabolic alkalosis, dehydration, ototoxicity (esp. with aminoglycosides), and azotemia. Avoid in dehydrated/hypotensive patients without volume restoration.
